Actress, UK Stars Of Tomorrow 2010
Described by one casting director as “a really quirky, likeable young actress,” and singled out by another for her unconventional look, Yasmin Paige is about to step into the big league. Having notched up a few choice roles on the small screen, including Ballet Shoes opposite Emma Watson and the BBC children’s series The Mysti Show and The Sarah Jane Adventures, she will soon be seen alongside Craig Roberts in Richard Ayoade’s wry comedy Submarine. The film, in which she plays a taciturn, socially awkward pyromaniac, offered Paige a chance to flex her acting muscles and will reveal a different side to her. Taking on such a role invested the experience with added weight. “I was very nervous every day,” says Paige, who will be on stage at London¹s Royal Court in Spur Of The Moment from July 14, “because I felt a great responsibility to the role and to the film. I put myself under pressure because I wanted to do my very best.”
