For the first time the Stockholm International Film Festival (November 14-24) will include a sales office for buyers and sellers. The aim of the Stockholm Sales Office is to provide a network to broaden Nordic cinema distribution of films screening at the Stockholm International Film Festival.
Over 120 films have gained distribution in connection to the Stockholm International Film Festival since it started in 1990. The films include titles like Léa Pool's Lost And Delirious, Darren Aronofsky's Requiem For A Dream, Carine Adler's Under The Skin and Wong Kar-Wai's Chungking Express.
Due to growing sales, the Stockholm International Film Festival has set up the Stockholm Sales Office to fully accommodate a service for the buyers market. The festival has appointed Grace Maharaj-Marnell as its sales coordinator.
In 2001, the competitive Stockholm festival had 80,000 visitors, 480 accredited media- and business representatives and over 60 international guests. 160 films from 40 countries were screened. The festival operates all year round with monthly screenings of selected films and mini-festivals like the Stockholm Junior Film Festival. The festival also runs distribution company Edge Entertainment.
