Increasingly ambitious Italian production and distribution outfit Lucky Red has announced two of its biggest pick-ups yet.
Lucky Red has taken Italian rights to I Love You Phillip Morris, the black comedy starring Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor.
'If the date is not too packed, we are going to go on 14th February, Valentine's Day,' Lucky Red's President Andrea Occhipinti said of release plans for the film, which is on EuropaCorp's slate.
The other US production winging its way to Lucky Red is Kevin Tancharoen's remake of Fame (on Lakeshore's slate.)
Meanwhile, Lucky Red has taken Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire from Pathe.
These deals follow on from Lucky Red's acquisition of Waltz With Bashir (sold by match Factory.).
Lucky Red is the co-producer and Italian distributor of Paolo Sorrentino's Cannes entry Il Divo. The company is also the co-producer of the Dardennes' Lorna's Silence.
