Finecut has acquired the world distribution rights to the South Korean film Daytime Drinking by Noh Young-seok which was screened as an international premiere in Locarno's International Competition at the weekend.

According to Finecut's senior manager EJ Cho, the company had received a 'good response and strong interest from festivals and buyers' for Young-seok's low budget feature film debut.

Described as 'a humorous road movie constructed around a series of increasingly absurd misunderstandings,' Daytime Drinking was named the Best Korean Film at the Jeonju Festival in South Korea this year.

Meanwhile, Sunil Doshi, managing director of the Mumbai-based distribution and production house Alliance Media & Entertainment, told ScreenDaily.com that he has acquired the rights for India to Lionel Baier's competition film Another Man (Un Autre Homme) from sales agent Wide Management.

Previous Swiss films acquired by Alliance have included Fredi M. Murer's Swiss Film Prize 2007 winner Vitus and Ursula Meier's Home which was shown in the Critics' Week in Cannes this year.
