Shoreline Entertainment has swooped on another Sundance title as the festival got ready to kick off last night [January 15], taking worldwide rights to Zhang Yuan's Chinese drama Dada's Dance.
Shoreline's director of acquisitions Brandon Paine and director of worldwide distribution Sam Eigen signed the deal with Yuan, adding to the company's previously announced pair of Sundance titles The Maid and The Queen And I.
Dada's Dance follows a sexy young woman who lives with her adopted mother and takes a journey with the boy next door to find her birth mother.
'We are thrilled to be in business with Zhang, a brilliant and innovative film-maker, and look forward to working with him in the future,' Shoreline chief Morris Ruskin said.
Zhang won the best director prize at the 1999 Venice Film Festival for Seventeen Years and the International Confederation Of Art Cinemas Panorama Jury Award at the 2006 Berlin Film Festival for Little Red Flowers, which also premiered in Sundance.
