Selected for the culinary cinema section at the Berlin Film Festival, Haïti Cherie takes a dramatic, Neorealist approach to the subject of modern day slavery, centering on exploited Haitian workers on a sugar cane plantation in the Dominican Republic. The film follows a couple who face severe dangers in their efforts to escape with their baby.
Winner of the Youth Jury Award at Locarno Film Festival, the film is produced by Giuliana Del Punta, Claudio Del Punta and Bruno Restuccia for Italian based Esperia Film.
Haïti Cherie was released in France by Pierre Grise Distribution in France and Lab 80 Films in Italy.
