Transactional VOD and subscription VOD deals inked for connected TV sets in Europe.
Content aggregator On Demand Group is partnering with EPG (Electronic Programme Guide) specialists Inview to bring transactional VOD and subscription VOD services to connected TV sets in Europe.
The service will be available in Tier 2 TV sets via Inview’s NEELiX platform, initially only in Italy from April, but with a European rollout expected later in the year.
The NEELiX platform, already incorporated in millions of TV sets, includes an integrated electronic programme guide (EPG), media browser and personal scheduling tool, offering a video streaming capability that allows for on demand TV services as well as other consumer applications.
There are an estimated four - seven million TV sets that could receive the service in Italy.
On Demand Group manages the on-demand businesses of a number of key service providers including Virgin Media in the U.K., SFR Neuf in France, OTE in Greece, TTNET in Turkey, du in Dubai, and mobile video TV SVOD services for 3UK, 3 Italy, and Vodacom in South Africa.
“We are very excited about the agreement with Inview, which further demonstrates our content aggregation strategy and objective of offering on-demand content anywhere, anytime, anyplace. Inview’s development of added value services to connected TVs has been very impressive and we look forward to working together,” said Tony Kelly, On Demand Group CEO.
“We are delighted to be working with Europe’s leading VOD aggregator. On Demand Group has contracts with all the major Hollywood movie studios, premium TV and music suppliers. The launch of TV on-demand services will substantially enhance our consumer offer and allow our consumers a total TV experience to watch the programme of their choice whenever they want,” said Ken Austin, Inview Chairman.
