European digital provider Arts Alliance Media (AAM) has signed an agreement with UK regional exhibitor Reel Cinemas to digitise all 60 of Reel’s screens.
It will also cover 60 affiliated screens.
The deal will be based on the Virtual Print Fee (VPF) model, which means it will be funded up front by the AAM, but both the distributors and exhibitor will fund the costs over time.
The deal will also cover the installation of 3D in 20 screens, which will mean at least one 3D screen is installed in each site.
In addition, Arts Alliance Media will provide satellite systems for each of Reel’s 15 sites, through satellite partner Arqiva Satellite & Media, which will allow the cinemas to show live content and to receive feature and trailer content via satellite.
Arts Alliance Media’s digital network currently covers six European territories and has installed over 650 digital screens to date.
Howard Kiedaisch, CEO of Arts Alliance Media, said of the deal. “The decision to go digital and 3D means that their sites will be able to offer all the benefits of digital to their patrons across the UK.”
