Festival Scope partners with Seattle, Hong Kong, Moscow, Kaunas

The online screening platform now has content from more than 40 film festivlas also including Locarno, Rotterdam, Berlinale, and Cannes sidebars.

Hong Kong will offer select Asian titles on Festival Scope. Roger Garcia [pictured], Executive Director of the Hong Kong IFF, said: “The Hong Kong International Film Festival is dedicated to discovering and helping filmmakers and we believe that technologies can help expand the possibilities and opportunities for independent films. We are happy therefore to be collaborating with Festival Scope on this new venture which will help expose the films selected to more potential distributors and buyers.”

The collaboration with Moscow will concentrate on Russian Trace, films about Russia, starring Russian actors or shot in Russia. Kirill Razlogov, Program Director of Moscow IFF, said: “Collaboration with Festival Scope - one of the most ingenious supports for festivals interface and promotion in the present globalised world - is specially important for our festival with its ever-changing policies during the last quarter of a Century. We hope that Festival Scope will help our partners and friends understand the specificity of Eurasian cultural and audiovisual landscape”.

Kaunas will present new Baltic productions on Festival Scope. Ilona Jurkonyte, Director of Kaunas IFF, said: “Festival Scope is a platform which has a big potential to contribute to the higher visibility of film creation from different geographic and creative areas. Kaunas IFF is happy to be the first festival from the Baltics to start the cooperation with Festival Scope. Festival Scope is a great tool for filmmakers and film programmers, distributors, film critics. We strongly believe that this cooperation will increase the insight into filmmaking from the Baltics.”

And Seattle will offer selections from its New American Directors’ and Documentaries sections. Carl Spence, Artistic Director of Seattle IFF, said: “The Seattle International Film Festival is the largest festival in the country in terms of attendance and the number of feature films shown. The size and scope of the festival does not always allow for everyone to cover our entire line-up when visiting. The opportunity to showcase some of the best films curated in our New American Directors and Documentaries sections to buyers and film professionals around the world on Festival Scope provides filmmakers with an amazing opportunity to expand their reach and ensure that they can increase the awareness of their films presented at SIFF.”
