President Andrew Karpen has announced the films selected for the first quarter of next year that will go out through Focus World, the digital platform that launched earlier this year to champion international filmmakers.
The selections are: The Broken Tower directed by James Franco, which will be released digitally on Jan 10; Gaukur Úlfarsson’s documentary Gnarr, which will be released on Feb 7; and Liza Johnson’s Return, which will be released on Feb 28.
Focus’ evp of strategic planning, business affairs and acquisitions Avy Eschenasy and manager of digital content Kent Sanderson negotiated the deals for the company.
Focus World and eOne will release several titles – all already available digitally – on DVD throughout the first quarter of 2012: Alma Har’el’s Bombay Beach on Jan 17, Jon Foy’s Resurrect Dead on Jan 31 and Toniko Melo’s VIPs on Feb 14.
