New on-demand site indiemoviesonline.com has acquired 50 films, which brings its total library to more than 500 films.
The legal streaming service is free to users in the US and UK, as the service is advertising supported.
The new content partners include ITV, Firstlook, Screen Media, Cinetic, HanWay Films, Porchlight, Le Petit Bureau and Soda Pictures. Also, new films have been secured from previous partners including ContentFilm and Content Republic.
New films offered on the site include Chopper, Reprise, Love Is The Devil, Funny Ha Ha, Brothers, The Boss Of It All, Bitter Moon, House of the Spirits and The King of New York.
The site launched a year ago and has had more than 2.5m unique users. Other previously announced content partners include the BFI, Aardman, Spotlight and Submarine.
Site co-founder and COO James Rowley-Ashwood said: “We are thrilled to be working with more forward thinking film distributors and producers, as we develop strategies to overcome the adverse effects of online piracy and to monetise content online. Our focus is on creating a higher-brow and informative film club environment and bringing the audience to the films – we get fan mail every day, and we’re delighted our users are enjoying our site.”
Rights Stuff, headed by Wendy Bernfield, has been handling the international content licensing for indiemoviesonline.com.
