Korea’s CJ CGV theatre chain has converted an additional 58 screens to 3D with MasterImage 3D systems.
In addition to supplying systems for all of CJ CGV’s 160 3D cinemas, MasterImage 3D has also installed four systems at Lotte Cinema in Suncheon.
These new installations, combined with existing systems at Primus Cinema, Ya Woo Ri Cinemas and other Korean sites, bring MasterImage’s total to 175 of the country’s estimated 250 digital 3D screens — more than 70% of Korea’s total 3D exhibition market share.
“MasterImage 3D’s system offers an outstanding value compared to other products on the market, and it is simple to install,” said Sung woo Kang, CGV Manager. “Also, with the high resolution picture quality, audiences’ responses to the presentation are great.”
MasterImage 3D noted that it has nearly doubled its worldwide installations in the past 18 months, currently standing at 1,900 systems in 40 countries.
Younghoon Lee, founder, chairman and CEO of MasterImage 3D said: “Exhibitors are recognising that our ownership-based model and passive-glasses approach offers them a different, and often more attractive business proposition than competitive systems and they’re demonstrating that recognition by choosing MasterImage in increasing numbers.”
Yesterday, MasterImage announced an installation deal with Malta’s Eden Cinemas.
