Orange customers to get free film downloads from iTunes, including The Wrestler and The Ghost Writer.
Orange, the UK mobile network and ISP known for its Orange Wednesdays initiative, is this week launching a new customer reward initiative called Orange Film To Go, which allows customers to download one film (worth up to £4.49) per-week free of charge.
The scheme requires customers to access a code from either a text message, mobile app or Facebook page, which they then enter on the scheme’s website to download a film, with a new title becoming available each week.
Orange worked with distributors and iTunes to come up with the films on offer, which include The Wrestler, The Ghost Writer and Che: Part One. More titles are to be announced shortly.
The initiative is open to customers using Orange Home Broadband, pay as you go, pay monthly, mobile broadband or business with films viewable on a laptop, PC or on an Apple mobile device. Once downloaded films are available for 30 days or 48 hours from when users commence watching a title.
According to Orange, an average two hour film (1-1.5 GB) will take around 18-24 minutes to download using a 5MB/s broadband connection.
The £5m campaign will be launched with a 1940s-style television commercial created by agency Fallon.
