The 3D cinema specialist has set up a hub in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The new bureau will focus on the company’s cinema business and handle sales, customer service and operations for Latin America, including Central America and South America.
RealD has appointed Sean Spencer as director of cinema, Latin America. Spencer will oversee the Rio de Janeiro office, heading sales and managing communications with exhibitors who use RealD technology in the territory.
The fluent Portuguese and Spanish speaker has worked in the Latin America entertainment sector for 16 years and most recently served as vice-president for Latin American operations at the Motion Picture Association Of America, as well as executive director of the Television Association Of Programmers.
“The cinema industry has seen its greatest growth in recent years in international markets, including Latin America, where box office has grown approximately 100% in the last five years,” said RealD vice-president of cinema Marlene Songin.
“This new office will increase RealD’s presence across Latin America and better position us to grow our business in the territory.”
