UK indie studio Warp Films has launched a new digital download store, offering digital-rights-management-free downloads for a range of devices. Projects on offer at warpfilmstore.com include documentary All Tomorrow’s Parties, Shane Meadows’ Le Donk and Scor-Zay-Zee, and feature-length concert film Arctic Monkeys At The Apollo.
The downloads are available in small, medium and large (priced £2.99 to £7.49) depending on what device (iPod, desktop/laptop, or on HD larger platforms) the consumer will use to watch the films. Warp notes that the pre-sized downloads will mean that consumers can view the files without reformatting. Files are DRM-free to allow easy transfer between devices.
New titles, from Warp and third parties, will be added soon.
The new platform is produced by Luke Morris and Warp Films; it is designed to complement Warp’s product sales in traditional retail outlets. The site also sells traditional DVDs for the above titles and also for the Cinema16 series, Chris Morris’ My Wrongs and acclaimed documentary Paradise Lost.
Morris said: “The site is a key part of Warp’s direct distribution strategy, but also allows us to compete with and offer a legitimate and high quality alternative to illegal downloads.”
