Nancy Tartaglione-Vialatte in Paris
The Directors Fortnight line-up was announced Thursday morning in Paris with a robust 20 titles set to screen in between opening film Four Nights With Anna by Jerzy Skolimowski and closing film The Pleasure Of Being Robbed from US film-maker Josh Safdie.
The section is heavy on Latin American films with co-productions coming from Argentina, Spain, Mexico, Chile and Brazil. There are also 12 French productions or co-productions in the line up including the latest from Rabah Ameur-Zaimeche, Dernier Maquis, which has generated strong buzz and is a co-production with Algeria. There are four first films which are eligible for the Camera d'Or.
The Fortnight will celebrate its 40th anniversary this year and will host a special evening on May 18 that will include a screening of 40x15 by Olivier Jahan. The film will trace the Fortnight from its auspicious beginnings during the May 1968 uprisings through to today.
