The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has picked five contenders for this year’s Honorary Foreign Film award in the 36th Annual Student Academy Awards.
The finalists have been chosen from a record 57 entries representing 39 foreign countries.
The winning student filmmaker will go to Los Angeles to join US-based Student Academy Award winners for a week. They will take part in industry-related activities and social events culminating in the awards ceremony on June 13 in Beverly Hills.
The finalists are:
- Elkland by Per Hanefjord, Dramatiska Institutet, Sweden
- Face-to-Face Confrontation by Igor Khomsky, Gerasimov Institute Of Cinematography, Russia
- The Incredible Story Of My Great Grandmother Olive by Albert Rodreguz, National Film And Television School, UK
- Our Wonderful Nature by Tomer Eshed, HFF Potsdam-Babelsberg, Germany, and
- Pinhas by Pini Tavger, Tel Aviv University, Israel.
Last year’s winner Reto Caffi has earned another nomination this year in the live action short film category for his film Auf Der Streke (On The Line).
