New films by Didi Danquart, Michael Hofmann and Simon Aeby are among the projects supported with a total of Euros 3.1m by the Stuttgart-based regional body MFG Baden-Wurttemberg in its latest round of funding.
Euros 500,000 production support was granted for Sophieee!!! filmmaker Hofmann's "impossible love story" Eden, which will be produced by the Ludwigsburg-based production houses Avanti Media and Gambit Filmproduktion, while Danquart's Romanian-set Offset - co-produced by Karlsruhe-based Noir Film with Integral Film, Austria's Wega Film and L'Autre Rivage - received Euros 380,000.
Meanwhile, Simon Aeby's medieval drama Henker (Hangman) - structured as a German-Austrian-Swiss co-production between Home Run Pictures, Allegro Film and T&C Film - picked up Euros 169,000.
In addition, backing was allocated to two animated feature films to be produced by local animation studios - Studio 88's Macius (based on the successful children's TV series) and Studio Film Bilder's Der Badesalz-Trickfilm which will consist of 30 animated shorts based on sketches by the Badesalz comedy duo - as well as a number of first-time features and documentaries.
