The Sundance Channel has picked up US TV rights to three independent films - P David Ebersole's feature Straight Right which premiered at last year's Los Angeles Independent Film Festival, Katya Bankowski's documentary Shadow Boxers which was in the Toronto Film Festival 1999 and Greg Stiever's documentary Poles Apart.
All three films will play in February as part of This Sporting Life, a celebration of sports films.
Straight Right stars Brent Smith as a young boxer who takes the law into his own hands against child abusers. The deal was negotiated by Larry Greenberg, manager of acquisitions for Showtime Networks and Sundance Channel, and Michael Roban of Kaufman and Roban LLP on behalf of Fight The Good Fight Film Production.
Shadowboxers profiles Lucia Rijker, the Dutch born female boxing champion. The deal was negotiated by Larry Greenberg and Douglas Schwalbe, representing Swerve Films.
Poles Apart is the story of polar explorer Ann Bancroft and her 1993 expedition to cross Antarctica. The deal was negotiated by Larry Greenberg with Greg Stiever and Louise Woehrle on behalf of Lead Dog Productions.
