Switzerland’s Ascot Elite Entertainment Group has acquired all German-speaking European rights to Rodrigo Cortes’ Sundance thriller Buried.
The film, which stars Ryan Reynolds, had its world premiere at in the Midnight At Park City section at Sundance last weekend.
Stephan Giger, chief operating officer of Ascot Elite, said: “The script by Chris Sparling already was an extreme page turner and Rodrigo Cortes obviously managed to keep up the pure tension on the screen entirely. We’re glad to be part of the upcoming worldwide Buried marketing frenzy and are proud having this unique film complementing our strong 2010 line-up.”
Giger negotiated the deal with Grégoire Melin of Kinology, which is handling worldwide rights (excluding US) for the film. Lionsgate acquired North American rights to the film last weekend after its world premiere in Park City.
