Liz Garbus’ Sundance film has alrady sold for the UK, Canada and Australia/New Zealand.
Ealing Studios International has taken on Sundance documentary Bobby Fischer Against The World.
The film has already been acquired by Dogwoof for remaining UK rights, Mongrel for Canada and Madman for Australia and New Zealand. Ealing holds remaining worldwide rights to the project.
Liz Garbus (The Farm: Angola USA) directs the story about the late chess master, from his troubled childhood to chess celebrity to fugitive on the run.
Ealing Studio’s International has added a fascinating new documentary to its slate, which focuses on the late, great Bobby Fischer, US chess master and troubled genius.
Stanley Buchthal and Rory Kennedy produce the HBO Documentary Films presentation with LM MEDIA, BBC, and ZDF Arte of a Moxie Firecracker production.
The film has its world premiere in Sundance tomorrow (Jan 21).
The film will air on HBO in summer 2011.
