Mad Bastards, Septien and These Amazing Shadows among new acquisitions for Sundance Selects.
Theatrical and VOD label Sundance Selects will deliver five films premiering simultaneously at the Sundance Film Festival (Jan 20-30).
The films include four world premieres: Brendan Fletcher’s comedy-drama Mad Bastards (World Cinema Dramatic Competition, Jan 24), Michael Tully’s Septien (Park City at Midnight, Jan 23), Paul Mariano and Kurt Norton’s These Amazing Shadows (Documentary Premieres, Jan 22), Joe Swanberg’s Uncle Kent (Spotlight, Jan 21), and one US premiere, Gregg Araki’s thriller Kaboom (Jan 21).
The films will be available on VOD at the same time as their premieres at the festival, and will be available in an estimated 40m homes on major cable systems. It is the second year of the initiative.
The deal for Mad Bastards which includes all US rights, was negotiated by Arianna Bocco, SVP of acquisitions and co-productions, and with Charlotte Mickie at eOne on behalf of the filmmakers.
The acquisition of Septien, which is for all rights in North America, France, Benelux, East-Central Europe, Turkey, Greece, and Asia, was negotiated by Jeff Deutchman, manager of acquisitions & productions, with George Rush on behalf of the filmmakers.
The deal for These Amazing Shadows, which is for all non-theatrical U.S. rights, was negotiated by Elizabeth Nastro, director of acquisitions & co-productions, with Ben Weiss at Paradigm on behalf of the filmmakers.
Acquisition announcements for Uncle Kent and Kaboom were previously announced.
