After years of casting a covetous eye in the direction of booming Denmark, the Swedish Film Institute has appointed Per Nielsen, a Danish national, as its new Commissioner for feature film.
The 45-year-old producer, scriptwriter and musician has previously been a Film Commissioner for the Danish Film Institute. For the past two years, he has worked as a producer at Denmark's Zentropa Entertainment.
"My love for film as a form of art is genuine - it unites drama, music and pictures in an optimal manner. I'm looking forward to taking part in the positive trend that Swedish film is experiencing," said Nielsen.
Sweden's two feature film commissioners possess key positions in the Swedish industry. Last year, they were responsible for granting approximately $7.5m (SEK75m) to 25 productions.
Nielsen takes up his duties from July 1.
