The Swedish Film Institute has received Euros 438,000 from the Bank of Sweden to establish an "Ingmar Bergman Interface" - an international, English-language data base and website for research into the life and art of Ingmar Bergman.
Ase Kleveland, managing director of the Swedish Film Institute and chairman of the board of the Bergman Foundation, said: "We are incredibly happy about the support. We have been preparing for this ambitious project for a year. Now the work can begin in earnest."
Last year, Ingmar Bergman donated his archive to the Swedish Film Institute to be administered by the Bergman Foundation.
