Swedish regional film fund Film I Vast has lined up another busy schedule, including the eagerly awaited new film from Jalla! Jalla! director Josef Fares.
The as yet untitled action comedy shoots for Lars Jonsson's Memfis Film in June, where production also starts on Kristian Petri's Details from Gotafilm based on a play by Lars Noren and co-produced with Denmark's Moonlight Filmproduction.
The Trollhattan studio, which has hosted Lars von Trier's Dogville and Soren Kragh-Jacobsen English-language Skagerrak, will also see Cosmo Film shoot Carsten Myllerup's youth thriller Midsummer in July.
The regional fund has an annual budget of $4m (SEK40m) for feature production and another $505,000 (SEK5m) for shorts. Forthcoming new films from: Lisa Ohlin (Unlimited Stories2), Pekka Lehto (W.O.I.T.K.A-brothers), Daniel Lind Lagerlof (Miffo), Ulf Malmros (Smala Sussie) and Dan Ying (Sandra) will add up to a total of 14 features this year in which Film I Vast has invested.
The regional fund has become an essential financial partner in recent years, as funding from the Swedish Film Institute has become less certain.
