Stockholm-based distributor NonStop Entertainment acquired five new titles at last week's Berlin Film Festival. The films include animated hits, a Sundance surfing doc and a spin-off to the Oscar-nominated City Of God.
Stacy Peralta's Riding Giants, from Studio Canal, is an documentary about American surfing. It will be distributed in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland.
City Of Men, from Buena Onda Films, is a spin-off TV series of City Of God. NonStop Entertainment is distributing the series, about two boys and their daily life in the slum, in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
NonStop Entertainment will also distribute three animated films in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. Spanish Three Wise Men (Los Reyes Magos), acquired from Groupo Pi, is a Disney-style animation directed by Antonio Navarro.
Javier Fesser's Spanish box office hit Mortadelo & Filemon: The Big Adventure, from Sogepaq, is based on Francisco Ibáñez's beloved comic book. The film has won five Goya Awards.
The French animation film Raining Cats And Frogs (La Prophétie Des Grenouilles), from Studio Canal, was acquired shortly after given a Special Mention from the Children's Jury at the Berlinale Kinderfilmfest 2004. Directed by Jacques-Remy Girerd, the story is inspired by Noah's ark.
