Swedish producer-director-writer Lars G Lindström is joining the Swedish Film Institute as a commissioner.
He will become one of a team of five at the Institute and replaces Lisa Ohlin, who left in May to direct $5.9m (SEK 45m) Simon And The Oaks (Simon Och Ekarne). She took over from Björn Runge, who walked out after a dispute with the projects producers.
Lindström spent 15 year working as a producer at Stockholm Stadsteater (Stockholm’s City Theatre), where he founded Backstage, an experimental theatre group. He has co-written several films such as Åke Sandgren’s Big Men, Little Men (Små Och Stora Män).
His most recent feature productions include Martin Kellerman’s Rocky, based on Kellerman’s own comic strip; Sandgren’s award-winning To Love Someone (Den Man Alskar); and Daniel Espinosa’s Babylon Disease(Babylonsjukan), all for Nordisk Film Production.
