New distributor will focus on black films.

Talking Drum Entertainment, a new UK distributor specialising in black films, will release Nigerian romantic drama Tango With Me in UK cinemas on Aug 24. Bookings include screens at Odeon, Vue and Cineworld.

The film stars Genevieve Nnaji and Joseph Benjamin as a young couple facing complex issues in their marriage.

Mahmood Ali-Balogun directs and produces for his company Brickwall Communications.

Talking Drum’s Dapo Oshiyemi said: “Our research estimates that there are over 5.5 million people in the UK who are interested in films based on black history, culture, society and lifestyle and we aim to connect that audience to the filmmakers who make that type of content thereby helping them achieve their commercial objectives while ensuring the audience is entertained, inspired and informed.”
