Tamadon Mehran’s Bassidji won the Opus Bonum at the Jilhlava International Documentary Film Festivall in the Czech Republic, which closed on November 1.
The festival, the biggest documentary showcase in Eastern Europe, praised the director’s insight into the twisted logic of the “guards of the Islamic revolution”.
Meanwhile, Jan Gogola’s Border won the Between the Seas competition for best Central and Eastern European film. Shot over a period of ten years, it tells the story of Hungarians living in a village divided by the Ukrainian-Slovak border set after the Second World War.
