Stephen Frears’ Tamara Drewe will open the third Branchage International Film Festival, which runs Sept 23-26 on the island of Jersey.
The closing night gala will be documentary Out Of The Ashes, about the Afghan cricket team, which was partly shot in Jersey.
Both films will screen at Jersey Opera House, with other iconic Jersey locations including the island’s Mont Orgeuil Castle and the Jersey War Tunnels being used during the festival.
The Branchage line up includes Jessica Hausner’s Lourdes, Nick Whitfield’s Edinburgh prize winning comedy Skeletons, cult French puppetoon A Town Called Panic, and Rachid Bouchareb’s London River, starring Brenda Blethyn.
The festival will include a series of live music performances, including Japanese psychedelic metal quartet Bo Ningen performing to Tatsuo Sato’s 2001 animation Cat Soup.
