London-based Production company The Bureau is starting the second year of its Save Our Scripts (SOS) development lab, seeking to work with rising screenwriters and producers.
Applications for the programme open in early December for those who want to improve their skills of writing screenplays or learn about producing films. SOS will run from April to December 2011 with three residential workshops in different European countries and virtual script meetings, where the new writers and producers will meet to collaborate.
Writers on the programme will develop a feature length script from a one page idea, while producers will build their development skills and attend workshops with industry professionals.
Last year SOS featured talks from writers and filmmakers including Simon Beafuoy (Slumdog Millionaire), Hanif Kureshi (Venus), Bertrand Faivre (Farewell), and Yannick Kergoat (Days Of Glory). The first year of the scheme included 16 screenwriters and six producers.
The project is also supported by MEDIA and Skillset.
