Seven films have been short listed for France's Louis Delluc Prize, one of the local industry's most prestigious awards. Among the titles is Laurent Cantet's The Class which is also France's entry for the foreign-language Oscar and was this year's Palme d'Or winner in Cannes.
The other films rounding out the list are Raymond Depardon's La Vie Moderne; Arnaud Desplechin's A Christmas Tale; Martin Provost's Seraphine; Jacques Doillon's Le Premier Venu; Olivier Assayas' L'Heure D'Ete and Rabah Ameur-Zaimeche's Dernier Maquis.
Both Doillon and Desplechin have previously won the Louis Delluc with Le Petit Criminel and Roi Et Reines, respectively.
Vying for the Louis Delluc prize for best first film are Sandrine Bonnaire's Elle S'Appelle Sabine; Pierre Schoeller's Versailles and Cedric Anger's Le Tueur.
A jury presided over by Cannes Festival president Gilles Jacob will reveal their final picks on December 12 in Paris. Last year's winner was Abdellatif Kechiche's The Secret Of The Grain.
