The Last Station and Precious lead FIND’s 25th Indie Spirit Award nominations with five apiece following the announcement in Los Angeles earlier today [December 1].
Both are nominated in the best feature category alongside 500 Days Of Summer, Amreeka and Sin Nombre. Helen Mirren and Gabourey Sidibe (pictured) will contest the female lead actor race, while Christopher Plummer earned a supporting actor nomination.
Oren Peli and producer Jason Blum earned a best first feature nomination for their breakout horror hit Paranormal Activity, as did Tom Ford and producers Andrew Miano, Robert Salerno and Chris Weitz for A Single Man.
A formidable foreign film category, meanwhile, pits Jacques Audiard’s A Prophet against Lone Scherfig’s An Education, Jan Troell’s Everlasting Moments, Bong Joon-ho’s Mother, and Sebastian Silva’s The Maid.
The awards ceremony will take place on the night of Friday March 5, in the LA Live Campus in Downtown LA.
