Clio Barnard’s The Selfish Giant, based on Oscar Wilde’s short story, has wrapped principal photography after shooting for six weeks in Bradford.
Produced by Tracy O’Riordan, who also produced Barnard’s The Arbor (2010), The Selfish Giant follows two boys involved in copper theft.
The cast includes Sean Gilder, Siobhan Finneran, Lorraine Ashbourne, Steve Evets, Elliott Tittensor and newcomers Conner Chapman and Shaun Thomas.
Barnard won multiple awards for The Arbor, including The Douglas Hickox Award at the British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs), Best Screenplay at the Evening Standard British Film Awards and Best British Newcomer at the BFI London Film Festival. She called The Selfish Giant “a re-telling of a fairy tale based on fact.”
