Lisa Wilson, who launched The Solution Entertainment Group with Myles Nestel at the start of the year, will kick off talks with international buyers on the Elijah Wood psychological thriller.
Wood plays a musical prodigy blighted by crippling stage fright who must come out of retirement and deliver a flawless concert performance in order to save his life. Eugenio Mira will direct in July from a screenplay by Damien Chazelle.
Grand Piano comes from the Nostromo Pictures Spanish producing team of Adrian Guerra and Rodrigo Cortés. Wilson (pictured) sold international rights on the latter’s Sundance 2012 mystery Red Lights.
“I am excited to be working with Adrian and Rodrigo again following our collaboration on Red Lights,” Wilson said. “The exceptional script combined with the unique vision of director Eugenio Mira will be sure to attract buyer attention in Cannes.”
Wood is currently filming Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey opposite Martin Freeman, Ian McKellan, Richard Armitage, Orlando Bloom and Cate Blanchett ahead of the December release through Warner Bros.
Mira made his feature film debut on The Birthday, which earned a best film nomination at Sitges, and subsequently directed Agnosia.
Wood is represented by WME, Brillstein Entertainment and Stone Meyer.
The Solution’s Cannes slate includes Informant Media and Judy Cairo’s Writers, which is in post and stars Greg Kinnear, Jennifer Connelly and Lilly Collins.
