Uncertainty hangs over the UK release of Terrence Malick’s upcoming Cannes competition entry after a disagreement appears to have broken out between Icon Film Distribution and Bill Pohlad’s River Road.
The distributor has pulled its May 4 release date and said it now had no plans to release the eagerly awaited father-and-son saga starring Brad Pitt, Sean Penn and Jessica Chastain.
Details of the argument remain unclear, however what is certain is the matter will now go to arbitration in Los Angeles.
Summit International is the film’s sales agent on behalf of River Road Entertainment. Fox Searchlight holds US rights.
