Srdjan Koljevic’s The Woman With A Broken Nose won five awards in the national competition of Cinema City Festival in Novi Sad, Serbia.
The co-production between Serbia’s Bas Celik and Germany’s Neue Mediopolis won best film and best script for Koljevic, best actor for Nebojsa Glogovac, and audience and press awards in the National Class competition. The comedy will have its international premiere in competition in Karlovy Vary.
Best director award went to Sasa Hajdukovic for 32nd Of December, a co-production between Serbia and Bosnia. The drama also received best actress prize for Nikolina Djordjevic.
Serbia has not had an official national festival since 2006, when Montenegro separated and Herceg Novi Film Festival became a regional event dedicated to film directors. Cinema City is one of the two festivals in Serbia with main national competitions and serves as an unofficial platform for local awards.
In the international competition Exit Point, Grand Prix went to Sundance winner Winter’s Bone by Debra Granik. Chuan Lu won best director for San Sebastian prize-winner City Of Life And Death.
Emir Kusturica received the best actor award for his role in Christian Carion’s Farewell, while Lola Duenas was anointed best actress for her role in Antonio Naharro and Alvaro Pastor’s festival favourite Me, Too.
