The Works International has picked up Sacha Gervasi’s Anvil! The Story of Anvil for worldwide sales.
The Works already had UK rights to the documentary film and released it earlier this year in the UK.
The documentary film is directed by Sacha Gervasi and produced by Rebecca Yeldham. It follows 50 year olds Lips and Robb, who created the heavy metal band Anvil, as they gear up to record their thirteenth album.
Director Gervasi, who toured with the band as a roadie when he was 15 years old, gives an account of Anvil’s last shot at fame and fortune.
Carl Clifton, MD of The Works said “Anvil is an instant classic. It’s funnier than Spinal Tap but it’s also a hymn to hope and to friendship. It’s pure genius. And the band truly rocks too.”
The Works will launch the film internationally at the Cannes film market. The band is expected to perform an exclusive set at the festival.
