The Works UK distribution has just signed an exclusive home entertainment output deal with Universal Pictures UK.

Universal will release The Works Distribution titles on video and DVD and the UK, while The Works will continue to handle theatrical distribution.

One of the first titles under the new deal will be Stewart Raffill's thriller Three, starring Billy Zane and Kelly Brook. The Works will release in UK cinemas on May 5 with the DVD release to follow.

The Works managing director Mick Southworth and director of marketing Laurence Gornall struck the deal with Universal Pictures UK joint managing director Johnny Fewings.

"Mick and his team have a terrific track record, with movies like Open Range, Baise Moi and The Man Who Sued God all performing extremely well on video," said Fewigs. "We look forward to enjoying further successes with them."

Added Southworth: "We have a great relationship with Johnny and Universal Pictures UK that goes back many years, and this agreement is a reflection of our absolute faith in the abilities and achievements of his team."
