In the wake of Greece’s financial crisis, the Thessaloniki International Film Festival has announced several changes ahead of its 51st edition (which runs Dec 3-12).
The festival’s Board announced the following changes:
The international jury will have five members instead of seven.
The Golden Alexander cash prize for best film will be cut from $50,000 (Euros 40,000) to $25,000 (Euros 20,000), shared by the film’s director and producer.
The Silver Alexander cash prize is cut from $25,000 (Euros 20,000) to $12,500 (Euros 10,000), again shared by director and producer.
The festival will start a third Special Jury Award for Originality and Innovation, with a Euros 5,000 cash prize to go to the film’s director.
