Toronto and New York-basedTHINKFilm has acquired all North American theatrical and home video rights toMark Wexler's Venice and Toronto title Tell Them Who You Are, a biographical portrait of the filmmaker's father,renowned cinematographer Haskell Wexler.
In the film, Wexler Sr, whohas won two Academy Awards for his work in Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf' (1967) and Bound For Glory (1976), challenges Wexler Jr, on every choice hemakes as a filmmaker. Among the luminaries interviewed to discuss their work withWexler are Billy Crystal, Michael Douglas, Jane Fonda, Dennis Hopper, RonHoward, Norman Jewison, Paul Newman, Sidney Poitier, and Julia Roberts. 82year-old Wexler's latest film, John Sayles' Silver City, made its world premiere at Toronto.
THINKFilm director of UStheatrical acquisition Mark Urman and senior vice president of acquisitions andbusiness affairs Randy Manis negotiated the deal on behalf of THINKFilm, withJohn Sloss and Micah Green of Cinetic Media, who represented the filmmaker.
The company says the filmhas already undergone a week-long engagement in LA to qualify for Academy Awardconsideration. It plans on opening the film in March 2005.
