Ahead of the AFM, Simon Crowe’s SC Films International has sold thriller Retreat to Sony for the UK and Germany.
The film is now in its third week of shooting for production company Quickfire Films. The first image of the film is pictured.
Cillian Murphy and Thandie Newton play a young couple who need to rekindle their romance and go to a remote cottage. An injured soldier (Jamie Bell) appears on their doorstep and gives them the news that a fatal virus is heading their way.
Carl Tibbetts directs (and co-wrote the screenplay with Janice Hallett) and the producer is Gary Sinyor of Magnet Films. David Frost is executive producing.
SC Films International will be kicking off more discussions with buyers at the AFM.
The film is shooting entirely in North Wales.
Crowe said: “I was attracted to the project by the script. It is a great read, a really tense thriller in the hands of three very charismatic, quality actors.”
Sinyor added: “The script was always really strong and that together with the cast brought in the finance. Now that we are well into the shoot it’s clear that Carl has brought a strong visual flair to the movie and is getting powerful performances from all the stars.”
