Tom Tykwer is teaming up with the Wachowski brothers on one of two projects he currently has in development.
Tykwer said he is working on an adaptation of UK author David Mitchell's 2004 Booker Prize shortlisted novel Cloud Atlas, whose action stretches from the remote South Pacific in the 19 th century to a distant, post-apocalyptic future.
'It is a really fascinating and ultra-demanding concept which I am developing with the Wachowski brothers for me to direct,' Tykwer said, adding that the project could conceivably be made as a co-production with the Berlin-based production house X-Filme Creative Pool he co-founded in 1994.
In addition, he is developing a mini-series based on Dave Eggers' 2006 novel What Is The What, based on the real life story of Valentino Achak Deng, a Sudanese refugee and member of the Lost Boys of Sudan programme.
Moreover, Tykwer may also serve as a producer on a fourth feature by Sebastian Schipper after previously producing his 1999 debut Gigantic and the 2006 film A Friend Of Mine.
