The Orchard and HBO have teamed up on the worldwide release of The Music Of Strangers: Yo-Yo Ma And The Silk Road Ensemble ahead of tomorrow’s world premiere here. [Sept 13].
The partners plan a spring 2016 theatrical release followed by an HBO premiere for the latest film from Morgan Neville, the Oscar winning-director of 20 Feet From Stardom whose Keith Richards: Under The Influence is released via Netflix on September 18.
The Music Of Strangers: Yo-Yo Ma And The Silk Road Ensemble tells the story of an international musical collective created by cellist Yo-Yo Ma.
Neville produced with Caitrin Rogers of Tremolo Productions in association with Participant Media and with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities, Pershing Square Foundation and the Ford Foundation JustFilms.
Participant Media’s Jeff Skoll and Diane Weyermann served as executive producers with HBO’s Sheila Nevins, Motto Pictures’ Julie Goldman and The Silk Road Project’s Laura Freid.
Danielle DiGiacomo for The Orchard and Gabe Brakin for Participant Media and HBO negotiated the deal with Josh Braun of Submarine.
