The Transylvania International Film Festival has announced its program for its second edition to take place May 23-31 in Cluj.
Over sixty features will be screened in three venues, out of which thirteen will be in competition for the Transylvania Trophy and the $4,000 prize.
The competition is limited to first or second time directors from all over the world. Confirmed jury members are Barry Gifford (novelist and scriptwriter of Lost Highway and Wild At Heart), Alissa Simon (Artistic Director of the Palm Springs Festival), Olivier Nicklaus (Les Inrockuptibles), Alex Leo Serban (Romanian film critic).
A special section, 'Supernova', will feature titles screened at international festivals last year, including 24 Hour Party People, City Of God, The Magdalene Sisters and Spider.
The 'Shadows' section will feature horror and fantasy films, from Olivier Assayas, Hideo Nakata and JT Petty. Lukas Moodysson, Pedro Almodovar and Lucian Pintilie will be honoured in a three-films-each profile. 'Unlimited' will present edgy, provocative films including Jonas Akerlund's Spun, Larry Clark's Ken Park and J.C. Brisseau's Les Choses Secretes.
In the last days of the festival Romanian Days will feature new local productions, with more than eight new titles screened for the public and representatives of various film festivals.
