The Tribeca Film Institute (TFI) has partnered on what it claims to be the biggest fund for US filmmakers using cross-platform storytelling to promote social change.
The Tribeca Film Institute New Media Fund is a joint venture between TFI and the Ford Foundation’s JustFilms and will make available $750,000 to support filmmakers on newer media platforms such as mobile phones and video games.
All projects will involve the themes of contemporary social justice and equality and the fund will grant $50,000 to $100,000 to accepted projects in the inaugural year.
Starting in 2012, JustFilms will increase its support of TFI by contributing $1m a year over five years to support TFI New Media Fund projects.
