TWC has acquired all rights for the UK, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Germany as well as pan-Asian satellite TV. The company will act as sales agent for outstanding territories.
The Bully Project premiered in New York on Saturday [23] and is directed by Lee Hirsch, who produced and co-wrote with Cynthia Lowen. Cindy Waitt served as executive producer.
The film takes one year to chart the impact of bullying on five children and explores the issue in schools, homes and principals’ offices.
TWC evp of acquisitions and co-productions Peter Lawson and vp of acquisitions Dan Guando negotiated the deal with Josh Braun and David Koh from Submarine on behalf of the filmmakers.
“The Bully Project is a phenomenally insightful and moving examination of bullying and its long-term impact,” Lawson said. “We think this is one of the year’s most important films, and we intend to bring all our energy and creative resources to bear in bringing The Bully Project and its message to audiences of all ages.”
- Production has begun in Wilmington, North Carolina, on Piranha 3DD, the sequel to Dimension’s Piranha reboot. John Gulager is directing and Mark Canton, Marc Toberoff and Joel Soisson are producing with Chako van Leeuwen serve as executive producer. Daniella Panabaker, Matt Bush, Chris Zylka and Megan Tandy are among the cast. The scheduled release date is Nov 23 this year.
