New work from Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman, Nastassja Kinski, Elijah Wood, Cécile Fontaine, Rodrigo Prieto and Zao Wang are among the roster of 60 short films announced by Tribeca Film Festival top brass on Monday [11].
A record 30 entries are world premieres and programmers culled the line-up from more than 2,870 submissions. Winners of the Best Documentary Short award will qualify for consideration in Academy Awards short films category. Shawn Christensen’s 2012 Tribeca competition short Curfew won the best live-action Oscar at the recent 85th annual awards show in February.
The 2013 shorts programme will be presented in eight thematic categories. For the full line-up visit the official website.
“It’s wonderful to be able to introduce so many new films to an audience for the very first time,” said Tribeca Film festival director of short film programming and initiatives Sharon Badal.
“These short programmes run quite the emotional gamut and we look forward to surprising our moviegoers with some very unique stories this year.”
