Up-and-coming Spanish directors have a potential new outlet in Spanish distributor TriPictures' start-up production division, which is seeking directors on several projects in early development stages.
Head Douglas Wilson says he is currently negotiating directors for two projects: The Inheritors, from scripter Fernando Camara, and The Suicide Club, based on the work by Robert Louis Stevenson.
The division will embark on three medium-budgeted feature films per year, including co-productions. Projects are likely to be greenlit on budgets of around $3-4m.
Wilson was recruited last May to head the new production division. He was previously an associate producer at Spanish powerhouse Lolafilms.
