Freida Pinto and Riz Ahmed get meaty roles in a beautiful-looking Tess update from Michael Winterbottom.
Michael Winterbottom’s Trishna will have its world premiere in Toronto — it’s definitely high on my list to see. Winterbottom and Andrew Eaton’s Revolution Films produced and Bankside Films is selling (and helped with financing).
Freida Pinto (thankfully given a much meatier role than her part in the Apes!) and Riz Ahmed (getting a leading romantic role, hurrah!) star in an India-set update/reinvention of Thomas Hardy’s Tess of the d’Urbervilles. The trailer doesn’t give much away, but it certainly looks (and sounds) beautiful, and I’ll see anything Winterbottom ever touches, so I’m in.
